Piel is a skincare companion app for iOS and Android. You search a product by name, or add one with its ingredient list, and Piel checks it against your skin profile: what suits your skin, what to patch-test first, and what to skip, always with the reason. It also checks a routine as a whole, tells you when to reapply sunscreen from the UV index where you are, and answers questions about the products you own.
Piel is built by Andrej Kanuch and operated by Kan Consult s. r. o., his company in Slovakia. Kan Consult s. r. o. is the party you deal with under the Terms of Service and the data controller under the Privacy Policy. The apps are published on the App Store and Google Play under the developer name Andrej Kanuch; both developer accounts are being moved to the company.
Piel is a small, independent product. There is no shop, no affiliate programme and no brand partnership: the verdict has nothing to sell you, and nobody pays to be rated well.
The ingredient knowledge behind Piel's verdicts is drafted from public sources, first among them CosIng, the European Commission's cosmetic ingredient database, with the help of AI models, and no claim can appear in the app without a review stamp. Kan Consult s. r. o. reviews the claims by hand, one at a time, starting with the ones that carry the most weight; that review is ongoing, and most claims today still carry a model's stamp rather than a person's. Piel has no dermatologist, pharmacist or cosmetic chemist on staff, and it does not claim to. That is why the app says "ask a dermatologist" when a question needs someone who can look at your skin. Piel is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. Verdicts are estimated from ingredient lists, not from reviews or tests of the product. Nothing in the app diagnoses or treats a skin condition.
